Siquijor isn't a surf island. The reef sits close to shore and the water stays calm for most of the year, which makes it better for snorkelling, diving and cliff jumping than for catching waves. Its food scene follows that slower pace. Most of the island's restaurants cluster around San Juan on the west coast, where the beach resorts, dive shops and sunset spots are, and everything else sits along the single road that loops the island.
The variety is wider than you'd expect for an island this size. Fresh seafood and Filipino home cooking sit alongside wood-fired pizza and handmade pasta, Thai and Japanese kitchens, poke and smoothie bowls, and a few beachfront resort restaurants that are worth booking ahead. Evenings revolve around the sunset: grab a table facing west near Paliton Beach, order a cocktail, and stay for dinner.
Prices run from about ₱150 for a local plate to ₱1,000 or more a head at the resort restaurants and Italian spots. Many places close earlier than you might be used to, often by 9 or 10pm, and some smaller spots are cash only, so carry pesos. ATMs are limited outside Siquijor Town, and the more popular restaurants fill up in high season, so book ahead where you can.
