Sunset Restaurant is the beachfront restaurant at Coco Sunset Beach Resort, the sister property of Coco Grove at the far end of Tubod Beach in San Juan, on the Orchid Villa side. It is a separate kitchen from Salamandas. Tables are set facing the sea, beside the pool and out on the sand, and as the name suggests, it is the resort's spot for watching the sun go down. It is noticeably quieter than the main Coco Grove strip.
The menu mixes Filipino and European cooking, and the kitchen is led by a European-trained chef. Reviewers single out the lengua and the beef burger, and the barbecue nights get good mentions. What sets it apart is a full vegan menu, with plant-based mains, fruit and smoothie bowls, chia porridge and soy or almond milk for your latte, so it works well for mixed groups. Breakfast is generous and a favourite with resort guests. Some evenings bring local musicians playing Filipino folk songs and Spanish guitar.
It is open daily from 6am to 10pm, and Google puts spend at ₱500 to ₱1,000 a head. Non-guests need a reservation through the resort (+63 917 314 1415), and the hammocks and loungers are for hotel guests. Book for around 6pm, since a few dishes can sell out by 7:30pm.
