Republika is a native-style beach bar set among old trees on the edge of Maite village, about 1.5 km south of San Juan town on the road towards Coco Grove. It reopened in early 2026 with a refreshed look, and shares its quiet beachfront grounds with a few guest rooms and the Siquijor Divers dive centre. Being off the main road, it's calm enough to bring a book and stay all day.
You order at the bar and food comes to your table. Regulars mention the homemade sausage, sizzling pork sisig, local beef burger, poke bowls and pad thai, and vegetarians do well here with a veg burger and eggplant omelette. Alongside cocktails and local beer, the bar pours craft ales brewed by the owners in Maite village. Rope-net loungers hang over the sand, and the reef about 100 m offshore is good for snorkelling, with turtles often spotted.
The kitchen opens at 7:30 AM and runs to around 9:00 PM, with the bar closing at 9 or 10 PM depending on the season. Happy hour runs from 3 to 6 PM. Service can slow down when the staff are stretched, so order before you get hungry. Watch for sea urchins when you wade in to catch the sunset.
