Negros Island Region · 10 areas
Siquijor is a small island off the coast of Negros, under an hour by fast ferry from Dumaguete, and it packs a lot into a 72 to 75 km coast road. You can swing into the turquoise pools at Cambugahay Falls in the morning, jump off the platforms at Salagdoong at lunch and watch the sun go down from Paliton Beach, all from one scooter. The island is famous across the Philippines for its healers and folklore. That reputation gives Siquijor its character, but it's the water that keeps people staying longer than they planned.
Nearly everyone stays in San Juan, where the sunset coast has most of the restaurants, dive shops and beach stays. The ports are in Siquijor Town and Larena. Lazi has Cambugahay and a 19th-century convent, and Maria is the slow, quiet side of the island. Sunlight Air now flies direct from Cebu three times a week. The ₱50 island fee is paid when you leave, not when you arrive. Rent a scooter, carry cash, and get to the waterfalls before the tour vans.
The guides cover each town and the island's favourite spots: Cambugahay Falls, Salagdoong Beach, Paliton Beach and Lugnason Falls. Start with the Siquijor travel guide.
