Where you sleep on Siargao matters more than which room you pick. The island spreads its good stuff out, so a place that looks perfect online can leave you an hour's ride from the things you came for.
Start by choosing an area that matches how you want to spend your days. Then find a bed in it. This guide runs through each main base, who it suits, and what you will pay, then points you to the detailed area guides when you want to go deeper.
If it is your first trip, stay here. General Luna is the island's hub, with the widest spread of food, rentals, and nightlife, and the shortest rides to almost everything. It is also the busiest and priciest patch of Siargao, which is the trade-off.
The range is broad. Social hostels like Haole Surf Hostel and Happiness Hostel sit near the strip, mid-range spots like Bravo Beach Resort give you a pool and a bit of calm, and there are villas at the top end if you want to splash out. Most travellers never need to base anywhere else.

Surfers, this is your spot. Catangnan wraps around Cloud 9, so the boardwalk and the breaks are a short walk or a two-minute ride from bed. The coast here is reef rather than sand, so it is built for surfing, not swimming.
Design-led resorts like Kalinaw and Siargao Bleu sit near the water, Reside Siargao runs a popular rooftop, and surf-focused places like Buddha's Surf Resort put you right by the waves. Expect to pay a premium to be this close.

Want calm without going remote? Malinao and Santa Fe sit minutes from General Luna but trade the noise for a slower beachfront. Both have swimmable sand, which the Cloud 9 side does not.
Malinao leans boutique, with smaller design-driven stays. Santa Fe is growing fast and still feels low-key. Either works well for couples, longer stays, or anyone who wants a short ride into town and a peaceful place to come back to.

This is for travellers who want space and uncrowded surf over comfort and choice. Pacifico has a handful of surf camps and guesthouses an hour north of town. Burgos, further still, is quieter again, with powerful waves that suit confident surfers.
Rooms up here are simple and few, and they fill in peak surf season, so book ahead. There is little nightlife and limited dining, which is rather the point.

Roughly, a dorm bed runs ₱400 to ₱900 a night. A private room in a guesthouse sits around ₱1,200 to ₱2,500. Mid-range hotels and resorts land between ₱3,000 and ₱7,000, and design villas or beachfront resorts start near ₱8,000 and climb from there.
Prices jump in peak season and around the Cloud 9 surf contest, sometimes well above these ranges. For a full trip budget, see our Siargao cost guide.

The busy window runs September into November, peaking around the Cloud 9 Surfing Cup in late September. Rooms get scarce and rates climb 50 to 100 percent, so lock in your stay weeks ahead if you are coming then.
Travel in the quieter months and you can often book a few days out, sometimes on arrival. Our guide to the best time to visit Siargao breaks the seasons down month by month.
Once you have a base, build the days around it. Our Siargao itinerary lays out 3, 5, and 7-day plans, and getting around Siargao sorts out how you will move between spots.
