What to look for before you commit to the boat fare
Swell direction
3-8 ft East to Northeast swells.
Wind direction
South offshore winds are best, but Salvacion is fairly sheltered and can handle more wind than other more exposed breaks.
Tide
Mid tide is the sweet spot for surfing Salvacion, but it can be surfed at almost any tide depending on the swell.
How to get there
From General Luna it's about 25 minutes by motorbike or car to Salvacion town, then a 5-minute boat ride out to the wave. Two main routes lead in: National highway via Consuelo: head toward Dapa on the national highway, turn right at Consuelo (marked by Wakepark signs), pass Wakepark and Corazon, then turn left onto the paved road to Salvacion. For navigation, set "AJL Homestay and Foodhaus" in Google Maps, this route is simple and well signed. Catagnan Bridge via Sta Fe: cross the Catagnan (Sunset) bridge, wind through Cabitoonan, Libertad and Santa Fe (a sharp 90-degree left), and after Santa Cruz turn right onto the paved road to Salvacion. Scenic, but maps can be unreliable, so local guidance helps. The boat runs about 200 PHP per person for a 2-hour round trip (prices creep up with the island), plus a 20 PHP environmental fee on leaving town. Boats usually need at least three passengers, so solo or duo surfers may wait or pay for the empty seats, and the boats are small and uncovered, so bring a dry bag and sunscreen. AJL Homestay and Foodhaus is the handy landmark near the launch; beyond that amenities are minimal, so eat and refuel before you go or back in General Luna.

Suitable for a range of surfers and not overly extreme until the swell is over 6ft. Beginner-intermediate surfers might prefer to sit on the inside peak, but always be aware of other surfers and use proper surfing etiquette.
