Bador Barbecue is a roadside barbecue house on Rizal Street in Mati's city centre, beside the BPI branch, and the name most locals give when you ask where to eat native chicken. The dining room is simple and open, with no air-conditioning, and the grill out front does all the work.
The menu is short on purpose: grilled native chicken, the leaner and more flavourful free-range bird, served with rice and the house barbecue sauce. Regulars say the sauce is what makes it, so ask for extra. Do not expect soups, vegetables or a long list of sides, as reviewers note it is mostly native chicken and rice. Service is quick once you order, which makes it an easy lunch stop between other plans.
Open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. A chicken breast portion was about ₱190 in 2023 and a family of five spent a little over ₱800, so plan on ₱200 to ₱400 per person. It is listed as cash only, the room gets hot at midday and street parking is tight, though weekend visitors often park at the bank next door. Go for an early lunch and order more chicken than you think you need.
