El Union sits on MacArthur Highway in Urbiztondo, at The Great Northwest Travel Stop right in front of the 7-Eleven, and it's usually the first coffee you pass on the way to the surf beach. It roasts its own beans weekly in Urbiztondo, and in 2025 it was ranked 61st on the first World's 100 Best Coffee Shops list, the only Philippine café on it outside Metro Manila.
The dirty horchata, cinnamon rice milk with a shot of espresso, is the drink most people come for, with the cold brew latte and pour-overs close behind. For food, the grilled cheese with sriracha on the side is on almost every table, and the big s'mores and pancakes cover the sweet side. You order and pay at the counter, then take your cup upstairs for a view over the beach.
It opens at 7AM daily and closes at 9PM, or 10PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Expect around ₱200 for a dirty horchata and about ₱300 for the grilled cheese on 2025 to 2026 menus. Weekend queues are long but move quickly, so decide before you reach the counter. Come at opening, before the surf crowd, to get a seat upstairs.
