When are fees deducted?

Last updated: September 18, 2026

Koobo's commission is never billed to you as a separate charge. It is deducted automatically from the money we pay out to you, after the guest's stay or activity has been completed.

The order things happen

  1. The guest pays the full booking amount upfront at checkout. Koobo collects this on your behalf.
  2. The booking takes place.
  3. After completion, Koobo deducts the commission and any tax on that commission.
  4. The remaining balance is paid to your nominated bank account.

What this means in practice

  • You are never invoiced for commission and never asked to pay it in advance.
  • You do not need to set money aside for it. It comes off the top of a payment Koobo already holds.
  • If a booking never happens, no commission is charged.

If a booking is refunded after you have been paid

Occasionally a booking is refunded after a payout has already gone out, for example following a chargeback or an approved dispute. In that case the commission is reversed along with the payout, and the amount already paid to you may be recovered, usually by offsetting it against your next payout.

Seeing the breakdown

Every payout notification includes the booking it relates to and the deductions applied. You can also review your balance and payout history in your host dashboard at any time.

If a deduction does not look right, email [email protected] with the booking reference and we will check it.
