Koobo charges hosts a commission on each booking made through the platform. There is no joining fee, no monthly fee, and no charge for creating or keeping a listing. You are only charged when you earn.
Current commission rates
- Property accommodations: 12% of the booking price
- Activities and rentals: 17% of the booking price
The commission is calculated on the booking price paid by the guest and is deducted from your payout for that booking. You never pay Koobo separately or upfront.
What guests pay
Guests are not charged a separate platform service fee unless this is explicitly shown at checkout. In practice this means the price a guest sees is the price you set, and Koobo's commission comes out of your side of the transaction rather than being added to theirs.
VAT on Koobo's commission
Where Philippine law requires it, VAT or a similar indirect tax may be applied to Koobo's commission. Any such tax is added to the commission and shown in your payout breakdown, so you can see exactly what was deducted and why.
A worked example
For a ₱5,000 accommodation booking at 12% commission:
- Guest pays: ₱5,000
- Koobo commission: ₱600
- Your payout: ₱4,400
For a ₱2,000 activity booking at 17% commission:
- Guest pays: ₱2,000
- Koobo commission: ₱340
- Your payout: ₱1,660
Discounts and promotions
Guests sometimes book using a creator referral code or a promotional discount. When a discount applies, the booking price is reduced before commission and payouts are calculated, so both your payout and Koobo's commission are based on the discounted value rather than the original listing price. These campaigns bring new travellers to the island and give your listing exposure it would not otherwise get.
Your own taxes
Commission is a Koobo fee, not a tax. You remain responsible for your own tax and invoicing obligations on the income you earn, and for making sure any taxes you intend to collect from guests are built into your listed price.
