Yes. A payout is not final the moment it is scheduled, and there are a few situations where it can change.
While a dispute is open
If a guest raises an issue on a booking before the payout has gone out, the payout may be held until the matter is resolved. This is temporary. Once the dispute is settled the payout is either released, adjusted, or cancelled depending on the outcome.
If a booking is refunded after you have been paid
Occasionally a refund is approved after a payout has already reached you, for example following a chargeback from the guest's bank or a dispute decided in the guest's favour. In that case Koobo may recover the amount, usually by offsetting it against your next payout rather than asking you to send money back.
The commission on that booking is reversed at the same time, so you are not left paying a fee on a booking you were not ultimately paid for.
Fraud and abuse reviews
Koobo may also delay a payout while reviewing activity that looks irregular, for example a pattern of bookings and refunds that does not reflect genuine travel, use of multiple accounts, or suspicious payment activity. These reviews are not common and we work through them as quickly as we can.
What this means practically
The vast majority of payouts are never touched. But it is worth not treating a scheduled payout as spent until it has cleared, particularly on a booking where a guest has already raised a concern.
Keeping your position strong
If a dispute does arise, the evidence in your favour is almost always the same: messages sent through Koobo rather than WhatsApp, timestamped photographs of the property or equipment, and a listing description that accurately matched what the guest received.
