Changes are possible but not automatic. A confirmed booking is an agreement between you and the host, so any change needs both of you to agree.
How to request one
Message your host through Koobo with exactly what you want to change: new dates, a different number of guests, or a substitute participant on an activity. Be specific and flexible where you can.
Whether they can accommodate it depends on their availability and their own policies. A host with the dates free will usually say yes. One who has since booked those dates cannot.
How a change is processed
If you both agree, it is handled through the platform. Often that means cancelling the original booking with a full refund and creating a new one at the current price, or applying a supplemental charge where the new booking costs more.
Two consequences worth understanding:
- The price may change. A new booking is made at today's price, not the price you originally paid. In peak season that can be higher.
- Until a change is confirmed, the original booking stands with its original terms. Do not assume a request has been accepted.
If the host cannot accommodate it
Then your options are to keep the booking as it is, or to cancel under the cancellation policy that applies. If you are outside the deadline, cancelling means losing the payment.
This is why the cancellation policy is worth reading before you book rather than after.
Changing the guest name
For most activities, substituting a participant is straightforward if the host agrees. For anything requiring a licence or certification, such as a vehicle rental or a dive, the person named must be the person qualified.
Extending a stay
Ask early. A host who knows on day one that you might want three more nights can hold them. A host asked on your last morning probably cannot.
Force majeure
